An Audio Slideshow: Ron Glaser, the horse carriage driver

Ron Glaser is a native New Yorker and works as horse carriage driver near central park.  He started working June 27th, 2012.  He works with a 24 year old male horse called Bingo.

Ron and Bingo work the evening shift, which begins around 5:30pm.  He says that “usually at midnight, I start calling it quits for the evening”, but even on his latest nights, the horse is never out for more than 9 hours.  Ron hopes to soon move to the dayshift, which is more lucrative in terms of earnings, but all the new guys start with the evening shift.

Ron has had customers from all around the world and takes pride in his work.  He explains that “I tell them that it’s more than a ride, it’s a tour,” with lots of information and trivia about the sights they see.  ”I have actually considered thinking, if you don’t like, don’t pay me,” he says with a smile, “I am that confident in what I give the customer.”

“I am happy with what I am doing,” Ron adds, “I can honestly say that.”

  1. Che emozione! Il video è bellissimo, Ron è bellissimo, qualcuno dovrebbe farne la traccia per un film … Le immagini sono nitide, pulite, quella Manhattan in bianco e nero è così ‘glamour’ … E poi canta … Bello, bellissimo
